To gain the advantage you need to prevent your opponent from predicting your intentions - causing a delay in reaction.

Beat your opponent with deception by
reacting swiftly

A great product for reaction training, which is particularly applicable to evasion and defence, is the Evasion Belt (shown right).

Reaction applies to both feet and hands - usually at the same time.

Similar to the legs, you need to teach your arms to move efficiently and effectively, particularly when challenged to catch a difficult pass. Catching a ball, for example, is a skill reliant on quick reactions and co-ordination and is continually developed via rugby practices and handling drills.

A fun and demanding method of developing arm reaction and concentration is hook and jab pad training. With a partner holding hook and jab pads (shown right) , you can perform a variety of drills that develop reaction speed and accuracy.
